Heron

Green Heron: ISO 1250, 840mm, f/9.0, 1/1600
This is a continuation of my previous post.
This Green Heron had landed beside me at Lock 1 of the Trent-Severn Waterway in Quinte West, Ontario.
I had given up, as I wasn't getting much action in the river valley, when this Green Heron flew down and started fishing right beside me. I have seen this species of bird before, but never gotten this close to one.

This is another image taken at my new favourite spot at the bottom of Lock 1 of the Trent-Severn Waterway.
I was finally able to get out to take some pictures on my day off from work. I feared that I had missed most of the migratory birds that flow through this area as they head south for the winter.

This shot was one of the last I had taken as he flew from the riverbank to this tree branch that hangs over the river. As you can see, the leaves were just starting to change colour for the start of fall.
