Hot Summer Dragonfly: ISO400, 600mm, f/8.0, 1/500
IIt is very Hot here in our part of Canada. I had a minor accident here at home and did not feel like adventuring far from home today.
I sat on our back porch and saw this lone dragonfly perch atop our dying Pear tree.
Dragonflies do not like to be approached, so I had to take this with a long zoom.

Morning Walk: ISO 450, 600mm, f/6.3, 1/200
I left home early this morning to see if I could get a Heron down by the Trent River. I had no luck.
But, as I was walking up the stairs to the Dam at Lock 1. This American Robing Fledgling was enjoying the sunrise and waiting for Mom to bring her some food.
Later on, I did manage to get a shot of a Black-crowned Night Heron, but it was pretty far off, and the photo is not worth sharing. You can see it here.

Swamp Sparrow: ISO 640, 539mm, f/8, 1/500
Happy Canada Day!
I went for a walk at a local park. We are a short distance from Lock 1 of the Trent Severn Waterway (Parks Canada).
The weather is hot and humid after a rainfall last night.
I noticed this little bird coming in and out from the brush along the river shore. My guess was that she had some young ones to feed. This is a Swamp Sparrow.
I had originally thought it was a Song Sparrow but upon closer inspection of a larger screen, I saw I was wrong.
